Trick or Treat Thursday saw us see off the first half-term with a veritable explosion of colour and imagination from both students and staff. Nothing too scary as our photos give us a flavour of the day, from devils to angels, zombies to vampires, mad scientists to American presidents, princesses to slasher killers, and plenty of gaming characters come to life. Big shout out to Colette and all the canteen staff for catering to such a large group and filling them with treats! Happy Halloween everyone!
October is #BlackHistoryMonth and as part of our Schools of Sanctuary Ireland programme we held numerous table quizzes for our students highlighting achievements that have paved the way for equality and inclusion in our society. On Thursday the quiz overlapped with our Trick or Treat Thursday Halloween costume event...hence the odd looking uniforms on some

Our U16 girls had a great win against Colaiste an Eachreidh in the Galway Basketball League, winning by over 35 points. All the hard work this team have put into training is paying off. Our U19s were not so lucky as they faced a very strong opposition, but they showed they can pull together as a team and keep fighting for the ball to the end. Both our U-16 and U 19 Boys teams had convincing wins over Gort CS
Well done to our TY class of 2024 who recently received their Gaisce President's Awards for their hard work last year, especially with Croi na Gaillimhe. We deserved everyone.
Our Big Brother Big Sister programme has established itself well this month, with our TY volunteers regularly meeting with their first year charges for a chat, or a walk around the school. Thank you for helping our young students feel important and at home BBBSs!
October, the month of the Holy Rosary, is a time of spiritual growth for our students. They learn about the significance of Mary in both Christian & Islamic faith. Catholic students were guided through the prayer of the rosary. We extend our sincere gratitude to Fr. Martin for his generous gift of rosary beads to our students, a tangible reminder of their spiritual journey.
We were delighted to be chosen by Galway Film Fleadh Schools programme to participate in the Flipbook.Animation Workshop. At the beginning of October we held our Open Evening for prospective students. This was very well attended and students, and their families, had a great chance to see what we are all about in CMMG. Each department worked hard to highlight the work we do, and the opportunities we offer our students. More photos here
October also saw the election of our new student council. Students from each year were given the chance to be nominated by their peers, and then allowed time to espouse their reasons as to why they should be elected at a gathering in the Church. Following this elections were held and the successful candidates informed. Well done to everyone who took part, it is not easy to put yourself forward to represent your fellow students, and to stand up in front of them to speak...so fair play!
Our wonderful Book Club got off to a flying start this month, with some old members and new faces joining the weekly reading club in the beautiful school library! Book Club is a great chance for our students to continue or develop a love of reading and it's also a lovely quiet space that's ideal for promoting wellbeing.
