Ho Ho Ho! Welcome to December in CMMG. The month when we eagerly anticipate the coming of that happy time...school holidays! We also anticipate Santa, snow, presents, our Christmas market, our Christmas Jumper day and all the other charitable events we carry out to help those who need more than we do. It's a time for giving, a time for sharing, as the song goes, and we give and share as much as we can during the hectic three weeks we get to spend at school as the clock counts down to Rudolph flying across the sky.

Our School Lotto fundraiser continues to grow, and although no-one has been lucky enough with the jackpot, we have had our weekly winners as the prize money keeps increasing. remember, all funds go back in to the school, to make sure the educational experience of our students is the best we can offer. You can sign up anytime through our social medai links or here on the website...www.ourfundraiser.ie/org/cmmg
Well done to our marvelous
CMM Galway Choir, under the guidance of Ms. Hannah Rhatigan, who treated us to a wonderful concert. What talent!

Well done to everyone who participated in our Christmas Jumper Day raising valuable funds for
Focus IrelandCMM Galway students and staff certainly made it a colourful day for all!
Our TY and LCA students ice skated their way into the holidays..., a very enjoyable outing, and great craic had by all!

Unfortunately, it was heartbreak for our Senior Volleyball team in the All Ireland final as they came up just short following a titanic 2 hour battle with Sutton Park School.
With us needing just two points to take the title in the fourth set, Sutton fought back to take the next 7 points to overtake us and bring the match to the final fifth set. A subsequent poor start left us playing catch up, and Volleyball is unforgiving like that!
It was an extremely brave and skilful performance from our lads and management, who now are already looking forward to another crack at the gold in the School's Cup after Christmas.
Pictured are scenes from the packed study hall as we watched the match, and Francisco and administrator Ella receiving their medals on behalf of the team.
CMM Galway are incredibly proud of you all
Well done to Collette and her canteen crew who hosted a delicious Christmas dinner in aid of the Galway Rape Crisis Centre.

What a fantastic day for our TY student Michael Mullaney and all at Claremorris Boxing Club. Michael won a prestigious international competition in Poland after another great performance. Michael was also awarded the best technical boxer of the competition. This is a remarkable achievement for Michael and shows he can go toe to toe toe with the best. Well done and thank you to the team of Irish coaches that organised the team and trip and gave Michael this fantastic opportunity to showcase his skills in another country.
Great to see so many CMM Galway Badminton players line out for a series of friendlies in Merlin College. Well done everyone.

Well done to our first year soccer team who made their purple and black debut against Clonfert College. First of many appearances for
CMM Galway we hope.
Our scientists involved in TeenTurn had an early start as they headed off on a 6.45am bus to Dublin for their SciFest competition, with a strange blend of excitement and yawning! We had 8 projects and 16 girls competing on the day, all of whom had a great day out and learned lots about Science, as well as enhancing their presentation skills.
Congratulations to Julia and Anastasija in 6th year who won an award in their category for their wonderful project 'A clock ticking on Health', and to Zerah in 5th year who won the Behavioural Science SciFest award, for her brilliant project, 'Lifeline on the Wrist'.
Huge thanks to their accompanying teacher Sinéad Phillips, and to all the teachers who helped prepare them for this special event. Well done everyone!
Our
CMM Galway Boys Volleyball team have been having an outstanding season and have now qualified for Senior A final to be played on Dec 16th next at the National sports arena in Abbottstown. Under the guidance of coach Ger Lennon they have remained unbeaten this year, overcoming St Raphaels Loughrea, St. Louis Kiltimagh, Grange CC, Douglas CC Cork, Sutton CC Dublin, before defeating Dungarvan in their semi final.
Having lost narrowly to Kiltimagh in last years B Final this is a big step up for the boys, but one they are eagerly awaiting.
Their opponents will be Sutton, who they defeated previously in the round 2 group stages, so hopes are high. The match will be streamed live on the Volleyball Ireland you tube channel.
Fingers are crossed and best wishes forwarded. Good luck boys.
Following another lovely Christmas Fair / Margadh na Nollag, we want to say a huge thank you to everyone for helping to make it not only a success , but—more importantly—a truly enjoyable day. To everyone who baked, crafted, donated, bought, organised or offered a helping hand, we are so grateful.
A special word of thanks to our wonderful SNAs, who definitely went above and beyond the call of duty both in the lead-up to the fair and on the day itself. Your dedication and enthusiasm are truly appreciated.
It was also lovely to welcome Anja, Olive and their craft club, the Sonas staff and students, Olha and the Ukrainian students, showcasing their incredible talent, creativity and diversity —this is exactly what our market day is all about.
Well done to Hannah and our very talented choir. You brought the occasion to another level. Christmas can often feel elusive, but it was most certainly found in the main hall of CMM, thanks to the spine-tingling music we all enjoyed.
And of course, to our wonderful Santa—thank you for taking time out of your busy North Pole schedule to visit us. It was just a shame Paddy Murphy couldn't be there at the time to meet you.
To Frank, all your practical help setting up was very much appreciated. Also, a huge thanks to Claire, Kieran Cliona (and her earrings!!) for your unwavering support, in bringing the occasion to life.
To all the students who worked tirelessly at each of the stalls, and last but certainly not least to the inspirational organising team of Patricia O'Donnell, Ciara O'Loughlin and Bernadine Ryan whose enthusiasm makes everything work. The considerable amount of money raised for
Galway Hospice is testament to the generosity of everyone at
CMM Galway
Míle buíochas ó chroí libh go léir.
Hard luck to our u19A Boys Basketballers who faught bravely before being narrowly defeated by the reigning champions, Calasanctius College in their Western Region quarter final on a scoreline of 52-45. There were some excellent passages of play from both sides throughout with the result in doubt right up to the buzzer.
Transition Years had a very enjoyable day in Pallas Driving school, preparing for driving lessons by driving on their 2.5km driving track, followed by a practice run for the Driving Theory test. Thank you to all the instructors at Pallas Karting

It was a case of mixed fortunes for our girls basketball teams in their respective Western Region Quarter Finals.
The U16s were away to High Cross in Tuam for their match. They played a very competitive match, leading for much of it, however, High Cross came back strongly and emerged with the win. A great team effort was made on the day by this team many of whom will still qualify to play at U16s next year and will have another chance for success at this age group.
Meanwhile, all the hard work and effort the U19s team have put in this season paid off as they overcame Mercy, Roscommon, in their Quarter- Final. The girls now face a Semi- final against Coláiste na Eachréidh, Athenry. Best of luck girls, we're all behind you!
6th year student Rahul Joby receiving his award for Junior Cycle Graphics. Rahul's result was in the top ten in Ireland. Congratulations Rahul!
We had three seperate groups making cards this year, all for a worthy cause! 135 of Miss Sammon's SPHE students have produced beautiful Christmas cards and paper gifts to be posted out to Galway City and County Care Home residents. We loved this annual project - thank you carepack.ie for such an important Christmas initiative!

Ms Gallagher’s CSPE and LCA students once again showed incredible kindness and creativity this Christmas.
They handmade cards, bookmarks, and Christmas tree decorations for 110 residents in care homes across Galway and Donegal.
Through this project, students learned about the true meaning of Christmas and the importance of community connection. They put exceptional care into every detail - right down to the envelopes! - to ensure each item would brighten someone’s day!
We were delighted to take part in this initiative for the second year in a row, and we are immensely proud of the students’ generosity and hard work
Meanwhile, our TY and 5th Year language students enjoyed a joyful and merry morning making Christmas cards with Mrs. Bennett

Ho Ho Ho!
A huge thank you to all our parents, students and staff for your incredible generosity in supporting this year’s Hope Shoebox Appeal. Together, we created 65 boxes filled with care, joy and kindness, an amazing achievement for our school community.
We delivered our boxes in style too! Our TY volunteers had a fantastic day at the sorting centre, where the staff were so welcoming. We are very grateful for the opportunity and for everything the volunteers there taught us.
A special thank you to Ms Danaher, Ms Hession and Ms Gallagher for organising and guiding the students throughout.
Well done everyone. This is kindness in action!
