Hard luck to our First Year Basketball Girls in their Western Regional semi-final against Mercy Roscommon. Well done for all their hard work and dedication so far this year, a year where they learned so much and showed such great enthusiasm. Well done to all involved we're very proud of you and your coaches!
Congratulations to our Senior VEX V5 and Junior IQ teams who competed in the National finals in MTU Cork from Tuesday 24th to Wednesday 25th February.
There was fierce competition, with teams from all over the country competing on both days, so we had to be at our level best to compete. Nevertheless, both our
CMM Galway teams made it through the qualifier rounds to their respective finals, with V5 eventually making the quarter finals to finish in the top 8 and IQ finishing 6th. Two super performances in our first year at this level, with hopefully seeds being sown for better days to come.
We are very proud of our teams for all the time and effort they have put in since September, and for their sportsmanship and hard work during their competitions. Thank you also to their sponsors, especially
Aerogen, and their truly dedicated teachers Ms. Sinéad Phillips and Ms. Niamh Hession who have gone to the extreme of extremes to help, advise, guide and support our students. Well done to all!
Just because school stopped for Midterm didn't mean learning did! Zarah and Motunrayo had an exciting day in PayPal HQ as part of their STEM bootcamp run by
#teteenturn. Well done girls!
Congratulations to Julia and Anastasija who recently collected their fantastic 'Instax' Instamatic Cameras, their prize for their project and presentation at the National
#Teenturn SciFest competition
Three of our brightest stars at the University Maths Enrichment Programme today. Representing us at this opportunity to go beyond the curriculum and really hone those skills.
A very proud Principal popped in to see them and to thank them for representing us so well.
Dr Orla Flynn, President of
Atlantic Technological University, presented an Entrance Scholarship award to Class of 2025 Alumnus Julia Luszczki at a recent ceremony held at the Galway City Dublin Road Campus in recognition of her outstanding Leaving Certificate results.
Julia, pictured with her proud parents, is studying Medical Science, and all in
CMM Galway are extremely proud of her. Well done Julia, best of luck with your future studies
Congratulations to 2025 Alumnus Bahadir Ozmen who was presented with a prestigious UCD entrance award in a ceremony at the UCD complex in Belfield during the week.
The Award is given to the Leaving Certificate entrant entering a full-time undergraduate programme with the highest points score from each school in the Republic of Ireland, provided the score is at least 500 points
Bahadir is studying Computer Science and all in the
CMM Galway community wish him the best of luck with his studies. Well done Bahadir, we're proud of you.
Transition year students along with students from St Joseph's training centre were treated to a Bodhrán making workshop with Galway Musician and instrument maker Paul Vignoles recently.
Students made the frame by gluing and binding the wood, stretching the drum vellum over the frame and holding it in place with elastic banding and tacks. They personalised their own Bodhran with designs on the frame and skin.
They were also given a drum lesson by Paul at the end of the workshop, learning various drumming patterns and techniques.
All students left the workshop with their own traditional instrument to bring home, and delighted with the excellent workshop which was enjoyed by all students
We had a lovely moment today when Ms. Jean Kelly ( Board Member of
Galway Hospice) visited our school and met some of the our students and staff involved in the Christmas Market Day/Margadh na Nollaig. We were very proud and honoured to present her with a cheque for €1724 from our Market Day's fundraising efforts.
It is so true what she said about volunteering; that it's not only about giving, because when we volunteer, we receive so much more back in return! Ar scàth a cheile a mhaireann daoine!! Thanks to everyone who gave so generously!
Our third years were busy getting last minute mock preparation in with a trip to the Merchant of Venice at the Mill Theatre in Dundrum
Great work from our first and second year girls basketballers as they won their respective matches against PC Headford in their West group. Well done girls
Congratulations to
CMM Galway alumnus Ruihan Wu who was recently awarded an entrance award of excellence from Trinity College Dublin. Ruihan scored a maximum 625 points in his Leaving Certificate exam last June, and is currently pursuing a course in medicine at TCD. We are incredibly proud of Ruihan, a brilliant student who contributed extensively to our school while a student here.
Our quest to get the old weights room back into action continues...and as we get near to reopening a reminder that we're always available to accept any gym equipment you might be looking to offload, or anything to help us decorate...and a huge thanks to everyone that has given us materials and equipment already.

Well done to both our first and second year basketball teams who overcame the challenge of St.Jarlath's College with comprehensive victories.
Galway based artist Clare Henderson worked with our
CMM Galway 2nd year students as part of the Artist in the Classroom Initiative. They made illustrative printmaking work using recycled Tetra-Pak (non-dairy milk cartons). Definitely, some excellent talent in our Art Classes
Well done to our first year boys basketball team who had their first outing in
CMM Galway colours, winning one match out of two. Well done boys!
Our School of Sanctuary and Student Council members were very busy organising this great event where students and staff sent out a clear message as they showed Racism the Red card this week. Well done everyone
