St. Patrick's Day, Mock Results, Seachtain na Gaeilge, and this year...Easter holidays, what's not to look forward to?!

We were delighted to welcome Barry Finnerty to CMM Galway to acknowledge his win of €1275 in our School Lotto. This was the first time the jackpot prize has been won, and hopefully we'll have many more winners to follow! Incidentally, Barry also won the weekly draw prize the previous week...so, when your luck's in it's in!
Our draw runs every week, with all funds earned being used to benefit our students, and you can join up any time through the link on our school website,

Well done to each of our Science teams who took part in the recent JC Science Quiz hosted by Atlantic Technological University. The quiz, organised by Galway Irish Science Teachers Association, featured over 50 teams from all across Galway city and county and was a great challenge. Our teams, defending the title they won last year, did not make the winners podium this year, but certainly did not go down without a fight. Well done to everyone who gave their time to prepare and compete.

Huge congratulations to our Girls U19s basketball team on their fantastic trip to Málaga!
They represented the school brilliantly in their tournament games against CB Miramar and Colegio Sulliver, making everyone incredibly proud.
Off the court, the team enjoyed an action-packed weekend filled with basketball, swimming, a visit to the Alcazaba Fortress, and even a Dolphin boat tour!
With plenty of singing, laughing, and UNO along the way, the students were outstanding representatives for the school and clearly had an unforgettable time.
Thank you to all our sponsors, over €1800 was raised through a combination of direct sponsorship and support from the school staff and students. Well done and thank you to all involved!

Well done to all the participants, MCs, stagehands, lights and sound technicians, mentors, the CMM's Got Talent committee and especially chief organiser Mr. Patrick Devally who pulled out all the stops to produce another wonderful CMM's Got Talent show.
From start to finish the audience was treated to a wonderfully talented variety of acts, featuring students from first year to sixth, who mastered the incredibly difficult task of entertaining their peers. It takes a lot of bravery, never mind talent, to stand up on our stage and perform in front of your friends and classmates so a huge well done to every single performer on a job very well done.
Congratulations to sisters Phebean and Niffy who captured the prestigious trophy, just beating Conor, Alex and Christian to the top prize. Awards were also given out to long time CMM's Got Talent performers Tiffany, Chantel, Jasmine, Sonam, Phebean and Adam who have entertained us for the last time on the stage as they depart this year. Well done, and thank you, to you all

Well done to our Junior PI team who competed in their maths quiz at Dominican College. We were holding third place throughout the day but unfortunately finished 4th due to a tiebreaker not going our way. Congratulations to Hussain, Jan, Aleksandr, Reenu, Lena, Aoife, Devna, and Austeja for doing so well

Our CMM Galway girls U19 basketball team were delighted to raise over €500 from their deliciously tasty bake sale. Their baking expertise was put to excellent use to raise the money which will be used to help fund their participation in an international tournament in Malaga, starting on March 20th. Thank you to everyone who contributed, and well done to the girls and their coaches Ms. Rowena Kelly and Ms. Aisling Fanning...and the very best of luck in Spain.

Our CMM Galway second year basketballer's great run came to an end at the West Region A Semi Final stage recently. Despite losing out it's been a very successful year for the boys, many of whom were playing competitive basketball for the first time. They have competed at a very high level and improved considerably under the guidance of their coach Mr. Conor Fitzmaurice. Onwards and upwards!

Thank you to John Connolly TD who took the time to come in and chat with our Student Council, Prefects and Schools of Sanctuary Ireland students. He discussed the machinery of Government, plans and strategies of the Government, and answered many questions related to topics as diverse as housing, the environment and Galway infrastructure posed by our CMM Galway students

Well done to our CMM Galway Can Sat 2026 team who have just completed their journey of innovation and learning following the Regional finals in TUS Athlone
A CanSat is a simulation of a real satellite integrated within the volume and shape of a standard soft drink can, used to teach space technology to students. The ESA - European Space Agency competition challenges teams to build a mini-satellite, including sensors, power, and communications, which is then launched to ~1km altitude to conduct scientific experiments.
Our team, under the guidance of Ms. Niamh Hession and Mr. Donal Quinn, programmed and designed their Can Sat to measure Carbon dioxide and Methane levels in the air. They had a very successful launch and were delighted with the outcome. Well done everyone, great and inspiring work.
Congratulations to our 6th years who participated in IMTA Team Maths competition. They were pipped at the post but had a great day out and gained some invaluable preparation for LC in June. Well done to Samuel, Ali, Rahul and Mohamed!

Our VEX Robotics club had a great time at the Engineering Expo in Clarin College. They got to talk to their sponsor, Aerogen and show off their robot. It was great experience for the boys to talk to lots of engineering companies in the West of Ireland and get some career inspiration!
