Mocks over, Week 20s over, St. Patrick's Day on the way, Seachtain na Gaeilge, action in the classrooms and on the playing fields. Yes, indeed, plenty happening in CMM in March!
The CMM 2nd year girls found a great way to celebrate National Girls & Women in Sports Day , March 5th, by winning their Galway League Semi Final and booking a place in the final next week! They won a tight game, by just 2 points, against Mercy, Roscommon. There was great excitement in the CMM Gym as the girls came from being behind at half time to take the win. Well done to all involved with this team and the best of luck in their Galway League Final. Well done girls, onwards and upwards!

CanSat is a student challenge competition where teams design, build, and launch a small satellite, called a "CanSat", that is essentially the size and shape of a coke can, simulating a real satellite mission by fitting key components like power systems and communication devices within the limited space, and then deploying it from a high altitude to collect data and land safely with a parachute; this competition provides students with hands-on experience in various aspects of space engineering, from design to data analysis, while learning valuable skills like teamwork and problem-solving.In early March our Cansat team of Nevin, Kirish, Tiffany and Nathan, under Mission Control leader Ms. Niamh Hession, took part in the regional final in TUS Athlone where they successfully launched their prototype.
Well done to third-year student Yasmin Neche who was appointed secretary , and member of the PR team for Galway City Comhairle na nóg. Best of luck with your duties this year Yasmin

CMMG's TY Big Brother, Big Sister programme brought all their 1st year mentor groups out for an Easter egg hunt. Both 1st years and TYs have benefited from their mentoring programme for the year and lots of fun was had as they gathered their Easter eggs, especially the special golden egg. Our first years are a competitive bunch and we had some top egg gatherers, pictured. Well done to all involved and to their hard-working coordinator Ms. Sinéad Phillips

Well done to our u14 girls Gaelic football team who finished off their league campaign, scoring an impressive 6 - 4 when narrowly losing their final game. They have improved with every game and hopefully will continue to do so next season.
A big thanks to Galway City Museum and STEAM Studio Galway for inviting our budding coders to their new coding workshop. Our students all enjoyed working to make their Galway Hooker video games and seeing the museum exhibits. Thank you to our St Mary's College past pupil Damien Donnellan for inviting our students to the event and bringing them on a tour of the Galway Hooker exhibit

All our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-year students received a free World Book Day book, helping to inspire a love of reading across our school!

Thank to
Eason Ireland for their help with this
Students also got creative with a subject-themed bookmark competition, designing unique and imaginative bookmarks linked to their favourite subjects!

The winners will be announced soon—stay tuned!

Congratulations to our 3rd year's who participated in the IMTA Pi Quiz hosted by Dominican Taylor's Hill. While our teams were competitive they were just pipped at the post. Well dome to Óisín, Yehor, Alex, Martin, Evan, Thomas, Estel, Emmet, and Guillermo.
We decked out the school and ourselves in green to commemorate St. Patrick...Beannachtaí na Féile Pádraig oraibh go léir. Bain taitneamh as an lá!

Hard luck to the CMM 2nd year girls who put up a tough fight against Dunmore Community School in their Galway Regional final on Friday. The girls gave it their all, but it didn't go their way on the day. Huge improvements have been made with this team in the last few months and their coaches are looking forward to working with them over the off season, with an eye on next year's U16s league. Well done to all involved.
Our ASD team have been very and active as usual, and produced their first Neurodiversity Newsletter this month
The Transition Year students participated in a highly successful educational excursion. The itinerary commenced with a vigorous ascent of Diamond Hill, in glorious weather, followed by an informative visit to the Atlantic Technological University (ATU) Connemara campus, the designated National Centre of Excellence for Furniture Design and Wood Technology. The students expressed considerable enjoyment in both the physical challenge of the climb and the educational content of the campus visit.

The Wellbeing Department undertook the creation of a communal jigsaw puzzle, comprised of student imagery. The assembled puzzle acts as a tangible symbol of shared learning and growth, emphasising the collaborative nature of our educational ethos. The contribution of each student's unique talents, perspectives and experiences results in a cohesive and vibrant community. Each individual is a constituent part of a larger, unified entity.

Racism should not be tolerated under any circumstance...we are all Human beings, one species, one race. CMMG showed Racism the Red card by wearing Red to highlight our opposition to Racism. We also wore yellow to show our support for Irish cancer Awareness day and their efforts to fight cancer. Well done to everyone who participated, and helped raise vital funds.

Well done to our U20 girls' soccer team who represented the school with determination and pride in the Connacht semi-final against Ardscoil Mhuire in Ballinasloe. While the result didn’t go our way, their teamwork and commitment throughout the competition have been commendable. Great to see so many decked out in their new jerseys, especially those who were representing the school for the final time.

A huge thank you to Fergus Farrell for speaking to our students who are taking part in the Ready for Success programme run in collaboration with
Deloitte Galway. And Junior Achievement Ireland
Fergus told the students about his incredible life story and to follow their passion, whatever that might be.
It was an inspiring talk that left a real impression on the Ready for Success students who are preparing for their Leaving Certificate next year and making plans for their futures. Thank you Fergus
Thank you to Ms. Bennett, who paid a welcome visit back to CMMG to lead our students in a Mother's day card workshop. Lots of happy mothers out there on Mother's Day as a result!
Our Leaving Cert Biology classes recently took to Grattan Beach in Lower Salthill for their Ecology Field Trip. Students explored the rocky seashore habitat, identifying local flora and fauna and carrying out important fieldwork techniques as part of their coursework. A great day of hands-on learning, curiosity, and coastal science in action!
Our very active Comhairle n nOg participants had a great fun at their team building event at The Planet in Galway, meeting and having fun with their counterparts from other Galway schools over bowling and laser tag!
