Although CMMG does not have DEIS status we are very fortunate to have a Home School Community Liaison (HSCL) Co-ordinator in the school. We also have two School Completion Programme Officers. They all work collaboratively and do an enormous amount of work in supporting those who are educationally disadvantaged. They are in constant contact with parents / guardians supporting them to enable their children to develop to their full potential. Furthermore, the HSCL works with a cluster group of five other schools in the area, thus encouraging communication and links within the wider community.
At the start of every week the HSCL Co-ordinator informs parents of courses they can attend free of charge. These include: ‘Grow Your Own’, Hairstyling, Yoga, Make-up and currently there is a ‘Couch to 5k’ being promoted. The purpose of these courses is to promote a positive sense of well-being and to help parents to engage and connect more with their community. These classes are provided in the local library in Westside.
