Welcome to our School!
Coláiste Muire Máthair is a Catholic Co-Educational Voluntary Secondary School under the joint trusteeship of CEIST and the Diocese of Galway. CMMG was formed as a result of the amalgamation of Our Lady’s College and St Mary’s College in September 2021.
We are diligently building relationships with all our stakeholders and aspire to having a school that will serve our community by delivering an education in a warm welcoming environment where mutual respect underpins all our actions and decisions.
We have high expectations of our students and aim to support them in conjunction with their parents to reach their potential. We are fortunate to have a panel of teachers and support staff who pride themselves in creating an inclusive education environment and provide excellence in teaching and learning across our extensive curriculum. We strive on a daily basis to live our lives through the spirit and values of the CEIST and Diocesan Charters. As we endeavour to assist our students navigate their way through their teenage years, positive relationships are the fulcrum of all that we do. Our extensive range of extracurricular activities offer opportunities for participation, communication, fun, leadership, responsibility and growth. We have support systems in place to offer care and support in times of challenges and difficulties.
I acknowledge with pride the time and effort our staff and students continue to put into evolving this new school. Our building has undergone significant refurbishment and we have benefitted from a number of new specialist rooms and classrooms alongside a major upgrade on our fire safety and disability access. The good news is that further refurbishment of this iconic building shall continue as the plan is to provide for a 1,000-pupil school in the very near future.
These are exciting times in Coláiste Muire Máthair. Rest assured that we are committed to our students and embrace on a daily basis the diversity they bring to our school. The old Irish proverb “Mol an óige agus tiocfaidh sí” sums up our belief in our students and we will work tirelessly to educate them to become proud, confident, kind and respectful young adults. We encourage all our students to reach their potential and be the best student they can be while celebrating their uniqueness as an individual. My wish is that all our students will grow into strong, mature, happy, healthy adults that will be capable of coping with the demands of everyday living and will in turn become good citizens that will actively engage in their own communities and give back to society.
